MALAMPA Petitions Government

The President of MALAMPA Provincial Government Council (MPGC), Isaac Sam Abel, has requested for the Central Government to assist in a list of proposed economic development projects especially in Malekula with its large landmass, as well as road projects on Ambrym and Paama Islands.

Iavro commends MALAMPA officers

Commissioner of the Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) Robson Iavro officiated the confirmation of police officers that were on probation in the last two years and promotion of officers under the MALAMPA Command based in Lakatoro, Malekula, yesterday morning.

Birth of MALAMPA Netball Association

The Malampa Netball Association was officially established in Lakatoro this week.
 
Visiting the island from Vila to assist with the formation of the new Association were the VNA President Kathie Simon, and VNA NetGo Program Coordinator Virginia Taravaki.

Over 1,000 Vaccinated in Malekula

Over 1,000 people in Malekula have been vaccinated against coronavirus since the launch of the vaccine rollout for the province on Tuesday this week.

Almost 400 were vaccinated on the first day. Vaccination was led by key government officials and key community leaders.

Over 3000 athletes and officials to attend upcoming National Secondary School Sports

The Malampa National Secondary School Sports Committee has confirmed that the upcoming national sports event in Lakotoro, Malekula will take place on the 22nd August -31st August 2021.

The Malampa Education PEO, Mr Lorenzo Samuel said that the official opening ceremony will take place on Sunday 22nd August. He stated that the national event which takes place every two year will over 3000 student athletes and officials in the game villages.

Vanuatu Government Marks Start of Brenwe Hydro Works

The Government of Vanuatu and partner – the Asian Development Bank (ADB) witnessed what might be the implementation of the first major development project in Vanuatu since the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic in 2020.

Prime Minister Bob Loughman officiated the ground-breaking ceremony on 7 May of the Vanuatu Energy Access Project (VEAP).

Brenwe Hydro Contract Signed

The Government of Vanuatu has signed the contract for the construction of the Brenwe Hydro plant under the Vanuatu Energy Access Project (VEAP) with the New Zealand joint venture, MAPs/Vortex.

Following the signing – conducted on Tuesday 21st of January, hours before the Vanuatu parliament was dissolved, the company promised to deliver the project within schedule.
